Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, experienced significant social, economic, and cultural changes throughout their lifetime. Despite these transformations, many Boomers hold onto items and trends from their past, often for sentimental reasons.
Memories of the “good old days” keep us trapped in the past. Baby boomers love to retell tales of how it was “in my day.” At the same time, millennials will tell them to get with the times. Being stuck in a time warp from which they don’t want to snap out of, here are things that baby boomers still think are fantastic.
Going to the shopping mall

With the advent of online shopping, visiting a mall is becoming redundant. Who wants to push and shove through crowds of people who seem to be window shopping rather than buying anything? Then there are those scary creatures lurking throughout the mall…bored teenagers.
Yet, baby boomers flock to shopping malls with giddiness and excitement as though they are embarking on a safari.
Watch 24-hour news channels.

Staying up-to-date with what’s happening in the world is commendable. It pays to be informed. But 24-hour news channels in which different experts rehash the same information need to be more enlightening.
Nowadays, most stories are put out on social media, such as Twitter, before they go to mainstream media.
But baby boomers always need the white noise of CNN or Fox News blaring in the background.
Iron creases in their pants

The baby boomers are the post-WWII generation. The military discipline that their parents endured would have found its way into the home. One of these habits would be to have their clothes look sharp and crisp. Ironing creases in pants may have been a standard dress code in many homes.
Millennials are more relaxed in fashion, and wrinkles are part of the trend. So kiss those creases in your pants goodbye.
Love word art

There is nothing wrong with having inspirational quotes around your home. However, uplifting statements in a frame on the toilet window or within the bathroom can be seen as tacky.
We get that you want uplifting vibes in your home, but find another way than word art!
Still have utility bills mailed to them.

Paper bills sent to you may make you feel like you still have some form of control. You can rip open the envelope, lament how much the gas bill is, and then go and write a check to pay it. After that, you file the bill away in an overstuffed drawer.
But sitting at a computer and paying for everything electronically is way more convenient. Grab a coffee, turn on the computer, and you’re done with several mouse clicks.
Watching shopping channels

What do baby boomers find so extraordinary about these channels? First, people overacting with fake positivity and amazement at the new tool always makes peeling a potato a breeze.
Baby boomers watch these with obsession. But wait, if you call within the next 30 minutes, you will get two fantastic potato peelers; we’ll throw in a free book on the health benefits of these vegetables.
Who can resist such an offer? Millennials, for one…
Fuzzy toilet seat covers

Okay, these may make your toilet look adorable, but what about the health issues? The germs and bacteria that can make their way into the fabric are the stuff of horror stories.
Would you dare touch a toilet seat with a fuzzy cover that may not have been washed for a week? Thought not.
Use Landlines

Landlines are often considered more reliable regarding call quality and connection stability. Some boomers may also view landlines as being more secure than mobile phones or internet-based communication methods.
Landlines are tied to a specific location, so if a boomer wants to make a call while away from home, they would need to find a phone or use a mobile phone. On the other hand, mobile phones allow for calls to be made from anywhere.
Go on Cruises

Many cruises offer luxurious amenities, such as spas, fine dining and high-end cabins. Boomers may enjoy the opportunity to relax and indulge in a comfortable, luxurious setting.
Cruising may offer a sense of adventure and excitement while keeping the security of having everything organized and planned.
Some millennials may find the activities offered on cruises to be uninteresting or outdated and may prefer more adventurous or unique experiences.
Some millennials may be more environmentally conscious and may view cruises, which are known to have a significant environmental impact, as unsustainable or irresponsible.
Write in CAPITAL LETTERS

It’s possible that some boomers may have been taught to type using all capital letters, as in the past, some early computer systems and typewriters required the use of the shift key to type in capital letters. This may have led to the development of habits that continue today. But it does sound like YOU ARE SHOUTING WHEN YOU USE CAPS!
Some boomers may not be as familiar or comfortable with technology and may be more accustomed to writing in capital letters by hand.
It’s time to let go.

We know that there are things that baby boomers love. However, it’s time to let some things recede into history. We don’t need 24-hour news or shopping channels when we can readily get information and buy products online.
Tacky decorations for your home need to be given the heave-ho. Embrace change, as hard as it can be to do so.
