Pregnant Mom Dismayed That Her Baby Will Not Be Allowed at Her Sister’s Wedding

It is common for many couples to hold a child-free wedding so that their day is relaxed and as carefree as possible.

Usually, when this happens, there is a debate about what children may be allowed and how long they are permitted to attend the big day.

For example, some people may want a young bridesmaid to participate in the ceremony and wedding breakfast. Still, then she will go home for the remainder of the event.

The debate came alive this week when one mom, currently five months pregnant, reached out on Am I The A**hole (AITA).

She asked if she was out of order for saying she would not attend her sister’s wedding as her (will be) 5-month-old baby cannot participate with her.

The original poster (OP) said she would not feel comfortable leaving such a young baby for too long with a sitter. Which is something many moms can relate to.

Understandably, the OP’s sister was upset that she would not attend. She felt she was “trying to act holier-than-thou and punishing her for having a child-free wedding.”

She even wanted the OP to give a speech at the wedding and offered to give her contacts for good sitters that her friends recommend.

In response to the post, many readers agreed with the OP that the sister’s rules seemed very harsh, especially regarding strangers looking after a newborn.
