There are some jobs that we are so grateful that people do, such as doctors and teachers and there are others that bring a whole lot of hate. We take a look at 15 professions that people have absolutely zero respect for.
Police
It is not fair to say that all people hate the police as a lot of people feel comforted by police presence and feel protected by their local law enforcement agencies. For others, however, the police cannot be trusted after so many negative experiences with them.
Paparazzi
The invasiveness and persistence of the paparazzi mean they are not very well respected by people, especially celebrities. There is the argument that the paparazzi are just meeting the demand of the public but they overstep their mark on so many occasions.
Influencers
Some influencers are great at their job and get the right balance of being helpful without being too smug. However, some influencers come across as being vain and self-promoting rather than doing anything helpful for us. Some influencers relax their morals and end up doing anything for a bit of cash, which is not a good look.
Debt Collectors
Debt collectors, particularly medical debt collectors, receive very little praise as they can often be cruel and uncaring when collecting bills from people who are still very ill. Of course, they are employed to carry out a job in a sometimes unjust system but they can try and be nice to people while doing so.
People Who Create Artificial Scarcity
Ticket touts and sales reps selling “limited edition” items cause a frenzy when people are desperate to buy but the system is so unfair to genuine fans. This type of ‘work’ leads to disappointment and resentment from those who cannot afford inflated prices.
Call Center Scammers
Scammers operating from call centers are the most dishonest and predatory people on earth. They manipulate vulnerable people into giving away personal information which then leads to fraud and embezzlement.
Charity Knockers
It is so difficult to call out people who work for a charity as they are only employed by bosses trying to increase their funding but when charity workers knock at your home or stop you on the street while you are trying to get to work, it can be very annoying. Some charity workers can make you feel guilty for not giving and you are left feeling rubbish about yourself when you cannot afford to donate.
Medical Insurance Executives
Medical insurance executives have an important job to do but they are often driven by profit and may not be as genuine as they should be with some people. There is a lot of bad faith between medical insurance companies and the public who feel that their care is not at the heart of what they do.
Customer Service Reps
The life of a customer service rep can be very demanding as they receive a lot of complaints from unhappy customers. When reps cannot offer what the customer wants they can face a lot of anger and many customers expect the worst from reps and will shout at them before they even try to help. Reps have a reputation for evading doing their job and being obstructive but this is not always the case.
Retail Sales Associates
Retail sales reps can be pushy and will not let up even when you say no. While some people are forced into buying something it does not mean they are happy with the product. Being forceful just leads to people resenting you so if you land yourself a sales job expect a few eye rolls from friends and family.
Car Mechanic
Car mechanics get a rough ride from people who believe that they are above themselves when they pretend to know better than anyone else as they have technical knowledge. Another issue is that some people do not respect the hard work that mechanics do and the costs involved so some people feel they are being ripped off by mechanics.
Insurance Brokers
We have spoken about medical insurers but people who work for insurance in general get a bad rep as they often put barriers in the way of people claiming on their insurance despite paying high premiums.
Politicians
Never trust a politician some people say and, unfortunately, many bad eggs have proven this to be the case. It takes a lot to gain the trust of the public and only a rare bunch of politicians do so as the public is fed up with false promises and wants to see more positive action.
Lawyers
Lawyers are integral to the justice system and many people rely on them at some point in their life, whether it be for housing legislation or criminal defense. However, the prices that lawyers charge leave a bad taste in people’s mouths, and also some people do not trust lawyers who work for public prosecutors.
Income Tax Workers
Income tax workers get a lot of flack from people who have to file tax returns or believe that they have been taxed too much on their wages. There is a perception that tax workers want to drag every penny out of someone and they cannot be trusted when, in reality, they are simply doing their jobs.
