The high schooler worked alongside two friends he went to school with, James and Danielle. It made long weekend shifts easier by working with people he could talk to during his breaks.

With his friend James being the owner’s son, the three of them pushed boundaries a bit from time to time. While his Dad was pretty strict, he occasionally overlooked the odd mishap from time to time. Everyone thought he was a cool, laid-back boss.
Ranting Customers
During nearly every shift, at least one customer would complain about something or other. They’d get really worked up about it too, shouting at the staff and disrespecting them. It was often OTT! Like, what sort of adult would shout at a teenager for no reason?
Pointless Concerns
More often than not, the anger was aimed at something petty. Sometimes, the coffee was too hot; other times they’d been waiting in the line for too long. They weren’t things that the staff could really do much about, so the shouting was completely unjust and often rude.
Ruined the Atmosphere of the Coffee Shop
When a customer kicked off at staff, everyone in the shop would stop and stare. Not only was it really embarrassing for the staff, but it also changed the upbeat atmosphere and made everyone feel really tense.
Making a Bad Situation Better
After being shouted at for something petty one weekend, the high schooler was discussing it with his friend and co-worker, James, during their break. They were trying to think of ways to make these situations less tense.
A Revenge Plan Unfolds
It wasn’t intended to be actual revenge. It was just meant to get angry customers off their backs. Okay, and there might have been an element of incorporating a little bit of light entertainment.
The Coffee Isn’t Hot Enough
One day, a customer was complaining that the coffee wasn’t hot enough. The high schooler endured his rage and anger as he criticized their terrible service. It wasn’t even his fault, the coffee came straight out of a machine!
All Eyes on Him
Everyone was staring at him as the customer ranted about the cold coffee. People were starting to whisper and point, a couple of people even had their cellphones out, filming the whole ordeal!
Elevating the Problem
A few seconds later, James entered and glanced at the customer with grave concern. “Is there a problem here, Sir?” he calmly asked. The angry customer started ranting at James, and he remained silent until he’d finished.
A Drastic Solution
James turned to his high school friend and co-worker. With a serious expression on his face, he said: “This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. You’re fired!”
A Devastating Reaction
The high schooler was devastated. “Please don’t fire me,” he begged. “My family really needs the money!” He clasped his hands together in a prayer-like motion. “Please, PLEASE let me keep my job! I beg you!”
An Ice-Cold Reaction
His friend James was steely-faced as he told him to remove his apron and leave the shop immediately. Each time his friend tried to speak, he simply pointed towards the front door, urging him to leave.
The Customer Calms Down Dramatically
The customer’s reaction was one of shock. He calmed down in an instant! “It really isn’t that much of an issue,” he said. “You don’t need to fire them over it! I honestly didn’t mean it.”
A Guilt-ridden Customer
It was obvious to everyone that the customer felt really embarrassed at his actions. He was looking around at everyone as they stared at him. Maybe he felt bad for making such a fuss over something so petty.
Firmly Standing His Ground
James shook his head defiantly. “No, Sir! We pride ourselves on the very best customer service here, and we won’t stand for poor service.” The customer’s jaw dropped!
Having the Last Laugh
The two friends and co-workers were acting, and they’d gotten away with it a handful of times! Whenever a customer kicked off at either of the high schoolers, James would storm in and “fire” them! Between them, they found it hilarious!
An Admission of Guilt
The best part was that 99% of the time, the angry customer not only calmed down, they actually apologized for overreacting! They’d start fumbling and saying things like, “I didn’t mean it; I’m so sorry!”
A Sense of Self-Satisfaction
Although they should probably have felt a bit guilty about their acting performance, they actually felt more of a sense of self-satisfaction. If it made people realize that their actions could have consequences, maybe they’d learn a lesson and stop kicking off at staff for no reason.
