This coming time of year is hands-down my favorite 4 months! I know, a lot of people go on and on about the weather in Fall and how wonderful it is but that depends on where you live. Weather is certainly not the only reason I love this time of year! This copycat Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe might have something to do with it too!

I am a total holiday junkie, from decorations to foods and festivals; I love all excuses to celebrate! First everyone is gearing up for the fall season with fall sports, their fall decorations and those comforting crock-pot dishes. Then, before we know it, there is a trunk or treat to attend every weekend and candy everywhere we look! I love flipping on the tv to find that Hocus Pocus is on yet again, followed by The Addams Family!
As soon as Halloween wraps up, we’re all thinking about Thanksgiving and turkey and traveling to see family! As we all know, Christmas planning is well underway by this time too, especially with Black Friday shopping! It’s almost as if for 4 straight months everyone is excited and has something great to look forward to!

Pumpkin Spice Latte – The Easy Way
I only consider this the “easy way” because you utilize premade Pumpkin Spice Syrup in this pumpkin spice latte instead of making your own. I’m all about efficiency but I also know tons of people like to have full control over the ingredients they eat and drink. Since the Syrup is such an integral part of a Pumpkin Spice Latte, I will include the details on making your own syrup as well!
Ingredients Needed
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 Tsp vanilla simple syrup – You can find this at most grocery stores or, if it’s easier for you, grab it from Amazon right here!
- 1 Tbsp pumpkin spice syrup – It is possible to find this locally but I didn’t see it at my first store and I didn’t want to hunt, so I ordered this! (Recipe to make it yourself is below)
- 2 shots of prepared espresso OR 1 cup of prepared coffee.
- Whipped Cream
- Pumpkin Spice (You can buy this or make it yourself: equal parts cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, & ground clove)
- Glass Jar, Hand Mixer, OR Frothing Wand
Instructions
- Once you have all of your ingredients gathered, you will want to combine the milk, pumpkin spice syrup, and vanilla syrup in a microwave safe dish. (If you don’t have a frothing wand or hand mixer you will want to combine everything in a jar.
- Now you will either use the hand mixer, frothing wand, or jar to froth and blend this mixture. If using a jar, you will combine ingredients, place lid on the jar, and shake vigorously until mixture is frothy and milk has doubled in volume.
- Microwave the milk/syrup mixture for 1-2 minutes or until your milk is steaming.
- Remove from microwave and carefully pour the steamed milk/syrup mixture into the prepared espresso/coffee.
- Top your homemade latte with a bit of whip cream and a pinch of the pumpkin spice that you made or bought.
Making your own Pumpkin Spice Latte at home is not only a great way to save money; it’s also perfect for serving to a crowd. Whether it’s a holiday party, fall festival, or just a Saturday with family and friends, this insanely popular latte is the perfect addition. We like to enjoy this on chilly fall mornings while we sit outside and take in the gorgeous colors and breeze that this season brings to us!

Pumpkin Spice Syrup
- 1 1/2 Cups Water
- 2 tsp Minced Fresh Garlic
- 1 1/2 Cups White Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Pumpkin Pie Filling (divded)
- 4 Cinnamon Sticks
- 4 tsp Freshly Grated Nutmeg
- 2 tsp Minced Ginger
- 2 tsp Whole Cloves
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1/4 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
- To start, you’ll need to create a syrup base. To do this, you’ll combine the water and sugar in a sauce pan and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture becomes a syrup. This should take about 4 or 5 minutes.
- Stir 6 tablespoons of the pumpkin pie filling, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice into the syrup mixture. Bring this to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a sheet of cheesecloth and return the strained liquid to your saucepan over low heat.
- Stir the sweetened condensed milk and remaining 2 tablespoons of pumpkin pie filling into the spiced syrup and cook, stirring constantly, until the pumpkin pie filling is fully dissolved in the liquid. (About 5 minutes)
This syrup will stay good in the refrigerator for 10 – 14 days.
