It did mean that the street never looked cluttered with cars and was always easy manoeuvring out of your driveway.
It Was A Random Error

It was big enough for a car, but the man had his driveway, so he only used it when at least two guests were visiting. The man never really did anything else with it but it was nice to know that he had a back up parking space.
The Neighbor Just Assumed It Was A-Okay
One of the man’s neighbors rented out a room in their house and needed a place for the tenant to park their car. Since there was no on-street parking, they slipped a note through the man’s door explaining that they would use his patch of land as the new tenants’ parking spot. If it was ever a problem, he said they could move their vehicle as long as the man gave him a call in advance.
He Needed The Money
Even though the man had sympathy for his neighbor, he was annoyed. He’d most likely been having a hard time financially, causing him to rent out his house to strangers. But the blatant assumption that they could use his property was insulting. They had yet to ask or speak to him in person. He didn’t see why he had to allow his neighbors tenant to use his land.
But It Wouldn’t Affect Him
The man was annoyed that his neighbor had made such a bold assumption. However, he understood that the space was often empty and it wouldn’t cause him any issues to allow the new tenants to use it. He took a breath and said he would be okay with it if it were used rarely on occasion when there was nowhere else to park. But it couldn’t be a daily occurrence.
They Broke The Rules
Since then, his neighbor’s new tenants used the space every day, including at the weekends. They completely ignored his rules. He felt that his land had been taken over and he couldn’t do anything about it. The man decided to start plotting revenge to reclaim his land, even if it was petty, it needed to be done.
He Protected His Property
The man said, “So I told him to stop parking there, and I bought a no parking sign and safety bollards and tape and taped off my land across the street so no one could park there.” He knew it was slightly petty but it was HIS land and no one else’s. If anything happened it would be his responsibility to fix it and he didn’t want to have to chase people around to move their vehicles if he needed to use the space.
He Started Feeling Bad
At first, the man was pleased with himself, but seeing it sitting there empty with all the signs and bollards made him feel a little guilty. They should have appropriately asked him, even if they paid $1 a day or something. It was the attitude he had a problem with. But maybe he went too far… He asked the internet for advice.
