While having dinner at a restaurant, one text from a woman’s friend led to her boyfriend walking out of the restaurant, leaving her to make her own way home in the cold.
The Background
A post from the boyfriend on Am I The A**hole (AITA) told how his girlfriend received a text from her pregnant friend telling her she would be having a C-section. After explaining to him that a C-section would involve a large incision that would leave her friend with a scar, the boyfriend commented, “At least she’ll still be tight down there.” Yes, he went there.
An early comment in the post summed things up by saying, “I am just surprised that in what World he thought he wouldn’t be an a**hole.” Many, many people concurred, going on to say, “Imagine thinking you’re not the a**hole in this situation.”
As if this blatant misogyny was not enough, he said that after arguing back and forth, he got up and walked out after becoming very frustrated by the whole exchange.
He even admitted that saying she was insecure, and it almost sounded like he was teaching her a lesson by making her wait in the cold for an Uber back to their apartment—yes, they live together!
Despite virtually all of Reddit shouting out loud about how much of an a**hole he is, he still dared to post looking for backup.
To be fair to him, while many people called him out for what he said about his girlfriend’s friend’s v*gina, some accepted that he might have been joking (albeit very poorly) and that if he had said this alone and apologized, it may have been acceptable.
However, the ongoing poor boyfriend behavior made many questions about the whole relationship. One commentator said he should get “Bonus AH points for leaving her stranded bc he can’t take valid criticism.”
We have to agree. Others went on to say, “I hope your GF dumps you.” Another agreed, saying, “Op YTA. And in case it didn’t sink in yet, we’re all hoping she dumps you.”.
Seeing people stand up for derogatory comments towards women and their body parts is excellent.
One person said, “Men like you are why women have been getting the painful and unnecessary ‘husband stitch.’ ” This is about the stitch that some women get after delivering their baby naturally, often tearing their perineum.
While the stitch is not necessarily for most women, men often desire it so that their partner’s v**ina is ‘tight’ after giving birth. With comments like the OP’s, it is easy to see why some women feel pressure to have the stitch, often causing pain and discomfort.
It is clear that many think that the woman can do better than a life with the OP, and his post made many people reflect on what they want from men, with one woman saying, “I want a man who won’t storm off and leave me to stick somewhere without a ride.” We can all safely say that OP, you are the a**hole.
