She has neighbors with a teenage son. The son is alright, as a rule, but the issue is that when his friends visit him, they frequently park in her driveway. It’s pretty annoying, and she’s at the point of being annoyed about it.

One of the days brought a whole new occurrence when she returned home to find three of their friends’ cars taking up their parking space after a long 14-hour workday. It was instantly infuriating!

Having alerted the neighbors on numerous occasions about the issue, she decided to kill two birds with one stone. She and her husband had recently had their back garden landscaped, and there was loads of waste in their shed. She hadn’t gotten around to clearing it yet!

She made a call to the waste company and ordered a large skip for her to dispose of her garden waste. Within two days, the skip had arrived, and she requested for it to be left in the spot where she’d usually park.

That weekend, she and her husband cleared the waste and emptied it into the tip. She didn’t call the waste company straight away; she decided to hold out for a week or so. It was an unattractive vision in her front yard, but she hoped it might pay off.

Over the course of the next few days, she parked her car in her neighbor’s spot. She waited for the door to knock! Then, one evening, there was a knock at the door, so she looked out and spotted her neighbor.

The neighbor pointed at her car and said, “You can’t park there! That’s our spot!” She replied, “Well, I have a skip in my garden at the moment, so I assumed you’d agree that you owe me some parking time!”

The neighbor frowned and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about! You need to get your car off my drive at once!” The woman smiled and picked up her cell phone. “Let me see…” she said.

She scrolled through her phone and found the pictures she’d taken of their teenage son’s friend’s car parked in her spot. She referred to the dates at the top, of which there were at least twenty of them.

She scrolled through endlessly until they looked away. She said, “I have tolerated this for weeks on end, so I’m pretty sure you can let me park in your driveway until my skip is gone!” They looked at her angrily. Eventually, they agreed.

She also added, “And if your spot isn’t free at any point, I’ll be sure to get these pictures to the police as proof of illegal parking.” With that, she closed the door on them. The truth was, the police would probably do nothing, but she enjoyed the sound of it, and they looked concerned.
A Week Later

She left the skip there for a week before having it removed, and for the duration of the week, she’d successfully parked at the neighbors with no trouble at all.

Ever since the incident, she had had no issues at all with her parking spot, so it seemed that her plan worked. She always made sure she kept her eyes peeled, and if the car reappeared, she’d re-order the skip!
