How long does it take for the JENGA blocks to dry once painted?
This will vary but I would say to give it an hour or so and then check. Since you’re not doing layers upon layers of paint, it really shouldn’t have to take that long.
What if I don’t have grapevine twigs to complete the look of this Snowman Ornament DIY?
If you don’t have grapevine twigs, don’t fret. You can easily use any type of twigs that you lying around. Just keep in mind that there isn’t a wrong way to make this craft as long as you’re having fun doing it.
Are these Snowman Ornaments heavy to hang on the tree?
They’re actually not! Even though they might look like it, they should be able to be hung up just fine. If you’re worried about it, just make certain to hang it carefully so you can see if your tree is able to support them. If not, you can just have them sitting on a shelf to display as well.

How to Make Snowman Ornaments
You’ll need a few supplies to make this Christmas Ornament but it’s totally worth the time and the effort in making them!
Supplies needed to make this Snowman Ornament DIY
- Jenga type blocks – Dollar Tree
- Buffalo plaid fabric – Dollar Tree or Hobby Store
- Eyelet Screws – Dollar Tree
- Red and white twine – Amazon or Hobby Store
- White paint
- Paintbrush
- Sharpie marker
- Glue Gun
- Rust color paint
- Grapevine twigs

How to make these Snowman Ornaments
Start by painting the JENGA blocks white.
Next, take an eyelet and screw it into the top of each snowman. Then, tie with twine to be able to hang.
Take a sharpie marker and color in a small top section for the hat. Add in tiny dots for the mouth, eyes, and buttons.
Now it’s time to create a carrot nose. The easiest way to do this is to use the thin end of a paintbrush and dip it into a rust colored paint.
Using scrap fabric, cut thin strips for the scarf. Put a small amount of hot glue on the scarf to hold it into place.
Grab your grapevine twigs and break it into smaller pieces. Then, glue one to each side to represent the arms.
Finish the Christmas ornament by cutting the end of the scarves to give a fringe or frayed look.
Tips for making this Christmas Ornament
Remember to have fun! The hardest part of this entire DIY ornament is waiting for the initial coat of the white paint to dry.
Make certain that if you’re creating this ornament with your children, you stay by them and offer help as needed. There are a few parts to this craft that need adult supervision so you’re going to have to help as needed.
