Giving out Valentine’s Day cards in the classroom is something most of us remember doing as children ourselves. It was always so exciting to decorate our very own “mailbox” to collect our school Valentine cards in! Not to mention how fun it always was seeing what each student chose as their Valentines for school!
Kids’ Valentine’s Day Cards
As a parent, I can attest to the fact that this excitement doesn’t always last long past the end of the school day. See, the paper Valentine’s Day cards that you buy at your local store are great and always have the hottest new cartoon or movie character on them. Plus, of course, a sucker or chocolate treat tends to be included as well.

The downfall of these adorable cards is that once they get home, they tend to become “junk” or get filed in the trashcan. Or, even worse, multiple kids end up passing out the exact same Valentine’s Day cards! This year, I went out seeking the most unique school Valentine cards I could find! I found some incredibly unique ideas for classroom exchanges that I just had to share with you! These are sure to make your kiddo a hit this Valentine’s day!

While it’s always been so common to run to the corner drugstore at the last minute to get the off-the-shelf box of Valentines, we decided we wanted to change it up this year! I decided that the basic way we have always done it and filling in a name on a different line on 24 of the same card just wasn’t us! We have always gone above and beyond on every other holiday.
So, why do we make Valentine’s Day so basic? Just because stores sell these simple boxes of Valentine’s Day cards doesn’t mean we have to use them! I am so glad we decided to look outside the box for unique ideas this year!
What do your kids pass out at school on Valentine’s day? Do you buy Valentine’s in the store or make them homemade? Do you have a unique type that you buy? We would love to hear your traditions in the comments below!!
