Simple Carrot Patch Pudding Cups
Anytime that I don’t actually have to turn on my oven, I’m a happy camper. This is probably one of the easiest recipes, ever. There’s very little “cooking” actually involved but you’re still able to make a delicious treat for the kids (and kids at heart) to love.
This reminds me of a recipe that we ate a lot when I was growing up called “dirt pudding” but this just so happens to be geared more toward Easter instead. It’s that same yummy concept with just a little bit more added fun.
This simple Easter pudding recipe will have everybody pumped up and excited!

Can you use other flavors of pudding for this recipe?
Sure, you can! But just know that chocolate pudding is going to give it the most realistic “dirt” look to make these Easter desserts. But you do need to make this with the intention of your kids actually eating it so if they don’t like chocolate pudding, use vanilla or some other flavor.
Since you’re making it for them, go ahead and really make certain to make it FOR them!
How long will it take for the chocolate on the pretzel sticks to dry?
This can vary based on thickness, but I would say after 10 minutes or so, they should be starting to firm up. If you’re concerned about the length of time, just make certain to do these first for sure so you don’t run into issues.
You can also make certain that you’re helping with the drying process by tapping off any excess chocolate from the pretzel sticks. The thinner the layer of chocolate, the faster they are going to dry.
Is this recipe kid-friendly?
Absolutely! Your child can help with this from start to finish. You can easily let them take over on certain aspects without worry such as dipping the pretzels, crumbling up the brownie bites, or stirring and making the pudding.
The steps in this Easter pudding recipe are so simple!
How do you store leftover Carrot Patch Pudding Cups?
I’ve found that the easiest way to store these Easter pudding cups is to create them in their entirety and store them in the fridge that way. Cover them with saran wrap so that they can easily be grabbed and eaten once someone is hungry.
How to make Carrot Patch Pudding Cups
As I’ve mentioned a time or two, this pudding recipe just couldn’t be more simple!
Gather up the simple ingredients listed below to get started.
- 20-25 Small Breaded Pretzel Sticks
- 20 Brownie Bites (Store Bought or Homemade)
- 5.9 oz Box Instant Chocolate Pudding
- 1 ½ Cups Orange Chocolate Discs
- 1 Cup Green Chocolate Discs
- Green Jimmies
- 5- 9oz Clear Plastic Cups
How to make Easter Pudding Cups
To get started, take and melt the orange chocolate discs according to the directions on the package. Then, place the melted chocolate in a deep cup to allow for a simple dipping process.
Grab your pretzels and dip them about 3/4 the way down into the chocolate. Once they are dipped, set them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet to dry.
Next, take and melt the green chocolate discs according to what is directed on the package. Take the pretzels and dip the plain end into the melted chocolate and put them back on the paper to dry. You can then sprinkle them with the green jimmies.
While the pretzels are drying, it’s time to start making the chocolate pudding. Mix it up according to the package and set it aside for 5 minutes to firm.
After that time has passed, take a cup and put about 1/4 of the pudding inside. Follow that up by crumbling about one to two brownie bites and then add more pudding followed by two more brownie bites.
Once done, take 3-5 “carrots” and stick them into the “dirt”.
Serve up and let everyone enjoy this simple Easter treat!
