A former middle manager told Reddit’s Petty Revenge how he got his own back on his former employee who turned him in for fraud. The original poster (OP) explained that when he worked in the role for over 20 years, he reported to the department head, who in turn wrote to the mayor. The OP had a small team of 5-10 staff who worked part-time; thus, he tried to make his time with them “valuable.” He believed he was a good manager as well as helping them gain further training and improve their resumes.
One Employee Thought He Was Better Than Everyone Else
The OP talked about one employee, whom he named Tim, who turned out to be someone who thought he was “the greatest employee of all time.” The overconfidence Tim had meant he made many mistakes and could not get basic math and grammar right. The OP explained that part of his job was to secure federal grants for small projects such as improving sidewalks and building bridges across ditches. He believed his grants were clear and that “sometimes we would add cash or equipment time or staff time. Sometimes we would have volunteer organizations match with labor.”. Tim was in charge of keeping this process going, which was practically automatic.
Time Began Struggling With Basic Task
The OP explained that Tim started to have trouble with the basics, including keeping up with each grant code for materials and labor. Tim did not see this and demanded a promotion for all his excellent work. This led to intentional negligence, and he began putting himself and others in danger due to his frustration and pettiness at feeling he was overqualified for what he was doing. He was eventually called into the office and asked to resign or be fired after an “egregious incident.” If he opted for the firing option, he would be blacklisted in the city, but he refused to resign. When fired, he looked shocked as he thought the OP was bluffing.
Tim then got his attorney dad to
The OP looked up Tim’s criminal record, and it appeared that his attorney’s father had been getting him out of all sorts of trouble, including DUI charges and traffic violations. This information was vital when Tim came after the OP soon after his dismissal by reporting him for fraud regarding the grants that his department worked on. The investigation revealed 100% accuracy and transparency, so there was no case to answer. When called into the office to explain why he reported fraud, Tim said, “bridges should have been a lower priority, and the money would be better spent elsewhere, so the fraud was a misuse of funds” This meant that the city feds were annoyed at Tim for wasting times. He was forced out of the building. A later wrongful termination suit was filed with the help of his “daddy,” but this soon backfired once his dad read all of the files, which led to him taking away the financial support that allowed Tim to work part-time. The OP also revealed that he got a mistress pregnant, and his wife found out, so it appears he is failing from all angles.
Many Petty Revenge fans revealed in the OP’s story, with one saying, “You made my day,” and another saying, “Thank you, sir, for making me spit water into the screen!”
Many said they empathized with the OP, with one person commenting, “I myself work in local government and know exactly what he meant.”
We certainly think Tim has a lot of real work ahead of him!
