Am I The A**Hole? (AITA) Readers recently created a lot of debate on Reddit in response to a mom refusing to pay for a free bar at her daughter’s wedding.

The Backstory
The original poster Bluntandfiesty explained how she and her husband were paying for everything their daughter wanted for her wedding. Including flowers, catering, and cakes, which they were delighted to do.
When discussing the bar tab, things escalated quickly when the daughter and her fiancé became angry that her parents would not cover the cost of every drink for their guests.
Insisting that a budget would be set, the guests or the happy couple would pick up the remaining cost.
Mom was dismayed at her daughter’s anger outburst but remained committed to her original proposal. Saying, “I didn’t think it was unreasonable for me to set the boundaries for my budget so I wasn’t upset about it.”
Mom concedes that she may appear to be the a**hole after calling the venue to put a $10 limit per drink. However, she believes she is far from setting a limit for her overall contribution to the bar tab.
The Popular View
AITA fans responded quickly, and many agreed with her that setting a generous bar budget was more than reasonable.
One Redditor was flabbergasted that her daughter could not understand how lucky she was by commenting, ” Your daughter sounds entitled and spoiled. Does she even realize how lucky she is to have someone pay for her wedding?”
Another agreed by saying, “Spoiled is the carrying air to this AITA; soon as it got to the disagreement, I was just thinking Spoiled over and over again.”
Mom was quick to edit her original post by saying that her daughter and her fiancé were kind and humble. Telling readers that “She’s a good person and wasn’t raised as a spoiled, pampered princess with no boundaries.”
One commenter kept things simple by simply stating that” If they want open bar they can pay for open bar. NTA”
This was the opinion of the majority. However, many people shared their experiences, like this poster who said, “(at) My wedding, my parents paid for beer and wine; hard alcohol had to be purchased by the guest.”
The consensus was that the OP was NTA, which must have been a relief for her.
While it is common for couples to have a free bat at weddings, it is increasingly popular to have a cash bar so that the financial strain is manageable for couples and their families. This mom offered a perfect compromise between the two.
It is clear that this mom loves her daughter and her fiancé very much, and we only hope they agree and have a fantastic wedding.
