Even though humans are creatures of habit, there are still some things that we should always do or give up (no matter how much we love them).
For men, science has ten recommendations for things to stop doing.
Messing Public Toilets
“I get upset when I see toilets looking like someone did a 360-no-scope on it.”
“It doesn’t take a lot of skill to make sure your pee ends up in the correct area. Yet, it seems like an ability some guys just haven’t mastered.”
Though you might not get sick, there are still bacteria lurking around. Plus, it adds a stench to the public bathroom.
Think It’s Okay Not To Wash Hands
“At least in public, wash your hands every chance you get. You’re all filthy.”
If you think it’s okay not to wash your hands after going to the toilet, please reconsider. You may be okay with having germs on your hands, but others aren’t so keen on coming in contact with these invisible monsters. Please stop being a spreader.
Loving Fast Food
“I eat fast food because I’m too lazy to prepare myself a lunch every day. Man… the money I could be saving. I’ll definitely have to cut down if my fast metabolism ever gives out.”
It can be so easy to go to your local fast food restaurant for a meal. It’s quick and convenient. But healthy…no (at least not in the long term). If you want to lower the chance of getting diabetes, becoming obese, and reducing the risk of heart problems, cut out, or at least cut down to a moderate level your fast food.
Trying To Hide Emotions
“Stop worrying what other people think that makes you more or less of a man. It’s okay to show emotion, my dudes.”
When you try to suppress your emotions, it impacts your ability to communicate clearly. Also, you are being dishonest with yourself as you are denying who you are at a fundamental level.
Being Insecure
“Being so hung up on trivial factors to validate their manhood/masculinity.
I’m only 4’0″ and weigh less than 80 lbs as a grown man. So many men I encounter assume that this causes me constant insecurity and grief. I could not care less in all honesty, and I feel sorry for guys whose self-worth is tied to things they cannot control due to societal expectations.”
Insecurity stems from a lack of self-esteem and self-worth. If you don’t deal with the problem, it leads to depressive feelings and self-judgment.
You Still Haven’t Slept With a Girl?
“Shaming other guys for being a virgin. I’m not a virgin but there’s more than one guy I know who constantly shames me for being one because I don’t brag about my sex life. I can’t imagine how hard it is for the poor guys who genuinely are still virgins.”
Women aren’t objects to be conquered. They are humans with feelings, emotions, and dignity. Respect the man who chooses the right time to have his first “time” with a woman. Those who hold on to their virginity are less likely to suffer from substance abuse issues, are happier, and have higher self-worth.
Being Overly Masculine
“Attempting to emasculate other men. Masculinity should not hinge on any activity, and attempting to make men feel like lesser men for their unwillingness to submit to peer pressure is foolish in all regards.”
Toxic masculinity may cause you to think you’re macho and guys who are in touch with their feminine side are weak. Yet being overly masculine can cause you to experience depression. On top of that, you have a higher risk of causing domestic (and other forms of) violence.
Oh, Let’s Have a Meaty Feast
“Glorifying eating meat. Chill out Darren, let me enjoy some veggies brah.”
There is nothing wrong with having meat as part of your diet. Yet, if it’s only meat and nothing but meat, then you are exposing yourself to health risks. The potential medical problems are heart disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes.
I Got So Drunk…
“Brag about how much they drink.”
“Everything in moderation” is the catchphrase of all health professionals. Abusing alcohol can be a sign of a more severe personal issue. It can also lead to high blood pressure, colon or rectum cancer, a poor immune system, and poor memory.
I Don’t Like People
“Really beyond maybe a very small amount of people amounting to my family, loved ones, and a very small circle of friends I’ve realized over the years I just don’t like people.”
Struggling with introversion is a psychological issue many face. It’s not that they can’t get on with people. The problem is that those who suffer from this are perfectionists and highly self-critical. They avoid being judged by others and the easiest way to do so for them is to stay away from people. Introversion can create stress and leave one feeling physically and mentally drained.
