Suppose you have an opinion on why boomers are correct in their views. In that case, you should head over to Reddit, where one person posted the question, “What’s your most “I’m with the Boomers on this” opinion?”
Boomers can often get a lot of flak for being financially secure to the detriment of younger generations. However, sometimes, it covers that boomers make a lot of sense. This train of thought led many Reddit users to comment on how boomer culture resonates with them.
Car Technology
A gripe at tech was, perhaps surprisingly, the most liked comment on the thread when one person said, “Touchscreens in cars are a fundamentally bad idea & physical buttons (or similar controls) need to be brought back.”
The comment got so many likes, as even younger generations can get frustrated with too much tech. However, later in the thread, it became apparent that problems with tech extended beyond cars when one person ranted, “Basic home appliances (fridge, washer/dryer, etc.) do NOT need a touch screen.”
Subscriptions
One Reddit user was happy to get their dislike of subscription services off their chest, proclaiming, “I don’t need a subscription for everything. No, you don’t need my phone number or email. Just let me buy my shirt and get out of the store”.
The thread that followed this comment was well-liked and finished with one person stating, “Physical media: owning books, movies, and music, is far superior to a subscription service, or digital content.”
Apps
The talk of subscription overload also led some people to talk about their dislike of apps for everything. One person commented, “Certain things shouldn’t require you to download an app and/or create a whole account, including ordering food in a restaurant, paying for parking, buying something online, and sending a parcel.”
Much love was given to this comment, with many people showing dismay at the latest trend of using a QR code to read menus. “Gotta download an app? No, I don’t need that.” One person chimed in.
Loud Music
This a controversial one for some people, but one person said that boomers complain about how loud music is onto something. They said, “I love music, but it sounds better at lower volumes, and I want to be able to hear it into my old age).”
Others agreed when they talked about their struggle to have conversations in restaurants and bars. Others went further when they said, “And shops. I’ve left clothes shops because the music is irritatingly loud, and I can’t talk to my partner.”
Fast Fashion
Eco-conscious members of younger generations shouted out how much boomers are correct when it comes to fast fashion, saying, “I’m not rich, so it’s unavoidable, but I’m willing to spend extra on clothes that aren’t made of plastic, and I do my best to repair my damaged clothing instead of throwing it out.”
Many shouts agreed with this, with one Reddit user stating, “I want to buy a pair of jeans that will last more than two years. Levi’s have not been lasting more than a year for me lately.”
Respect
Regarding human interactions, younger generations believe boomers are correct when they insist on good manners. One young person said, “When you’re in a public place, you should respect others around you but not be disruptive with your behavior. For example, not playing music on your phone without headphones while on a bus, in a restaurant, etc.”
There you have it. Boomers’ opinions are not so bad after all.
