Boozy Watermelon Slush

We all know that summer cocktails are just the best. There’s really nothing like a frozen drink at the end of a long, hot day. And when you can share this Strawberry Watermelon Tequila Slush with other adults full of fun conversations and activities, you know that it’s a great day as well.

My favorite part of this drink is the fruit tasty that it offers. It literally is the perfect balance between sweetness and a beverage and I’ve found that it’s a simple way to get your fruit intake for the day, too.

And even though this alcoholic watermelon limeade slush has alcohol in it, you can easily change it up and make it a virgin drink if you want. Because when it comes to you and your taste buds, the choice is absolutely up to you!

Does this strawberry watermelon tequila slush have to have alcohol in it?

Of course not. As I mentioned above, cut out the alcohol and make it be a nonalcoholic drink just as easily.

I do this all the time and my son loves having this own refreshing fruity drink. He’s a big fan of the flavor, too because it literally is the perfect sweetness and taste.

Can you make this summer cocktail without having to freeze it?

You bet! If you’re one of those people that don’t like frozen drinks, you’re in luck. Just skip the part of the recipe that has you blended and adding to make it frozen and just keep it liquid instead.

Why not just go ahead and try it both ways and see what way you like best. You never know…you may prefer it one way that you didn’t think you would and discover a new favorite summer cocktail in the process!

Tips for Making This Boozy Watermelon Slush

The good news? This recipe is totally simple to whip up. But just in case you need a few other tips, I’ve got you covered!

You can cut this recipe in half or just make it a lot smaller if needed. I always like to make it in a larger batch because I’m typically sharing with family or friends. If you are going to cut it down some, make certain that you also cut down on the amount of limeade that you use as it is a strong flavor.

You can adjust the fruits and add in any that you’d like. This is a simple way to change up the drink with little effort. Blueberries and pineapple could be a great addition with so much flavoring to add!

How do you store leftovers of these summer cocktails?

If you’re fortunate enough to have some leftover for later, I would place it back in the freezer so that it stays slushy and think. Then, when you’re ready to consume, just pull it out and pour yourself another drink!

You can pop it in the fridge for a very, very short time, too. But it will quickly melt that slushiness and create a watered-down effect.

How do you make Boozy Watermelon Slush?

I know I mentioned how simple it is before…but I was telling the truth. Just gather up the simple ingredients below to get started!

  • 12 cups watermelon (diced)
  • 4 cups strawberries (quartered)
  • 12 ounces tequila (your choice)
  • 6 cups ice
  • 1 can of frozen limeade
  • Salt or Sugar For Rim

Garnish

  • Lime Slices
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon
  • Mint Leaves

How to Make this Frozen Watermelon Drink

Start by washing the fruit and then cutting up the watermelon and strawberries.

Once you have that done, it’s time to add the diced watermelon, quartered strawberries, ice cubes, tequila, and frozen limeade into a large blender.

Blender open with strawberries and ice inside, pre-blend.

Keep in mind that there’s a good chance that you may need to work in batches and combine it all together at the end. This produces a large quantity so it might work easier to split it up a bit.

Don’t forget to run a lime wedge around the outside lip of your glass and then dip the glass rim into coarse salt or sugar.

After that’s done, add garnishes, sit back and relax, and enjoy!
