What is Unicorn Milk?

While it may seem like a strange name, it’s fun and perfectly depicts the colorful visual picture of this fun drink! Yes, it IS milk and no, we don’t think naming it Unicorn milk is too corny!

After all, sometimes we do things just to please our little ones. This is one of those times and luckily for you, it doesn’t take anywhere near the effort that it appears to!

What are the ingredients in Unicorn Milk?

My favorite kind of recipe consists of very few ingredients, most of which I have on hand. This drink fits perfectly into that category!

Milk

To make your drink, you’ll need Strawberry milk but don’t worry. If you or your little ones aren’t fans of the strawberry flavored milk, you can use regular milk! This is where food dyes are a huge helping hand. You can tint your white milk to be any color you desire!

You can go for purple, pink, or even a pretty blue shade! There really is not a wrong way to make this creation your own.

Sugar

I know what you’re thinking moms, but its really mostly for the aesthetic effect in this recipe! Only a dusting on the top is required and you can always decrease the amount to your liking!

Whipped Topping

We use full fat whipped topping because it holds up on top of the milk best but you can experiment with any variety! Customize it and add more or less to suit your family’s tastes!

Food Dye

If you’re following our exact process, you’ll need pink dye and purple dye. If not, go crazy with whatever colors you love. I prefer to use gel coloring as I feel it works best but this is all learned through trial and error!

How Do You Make Unicorn Milk?

This is my favorite part of this recipe. There are no crazy tricks up my sleeve that make this more complex than it needs to be.

Simply fill a glass with your strawberry (or regular) milk. If using regular, make sure to color it appropriately before moving to the next steps.

Next, add your sugar, separated into two portions, onto a plate or bowl. Drop a bit of dye on the sugar and mix it together. Make sure you do half of your sugar one color and the other half another color.

Top each glass of milk with a generous amount of whipped topping. Once this is added, the fun part is here.

Take your sugar and sprinkle each color, one at a time, over the top of the whipped cream. You’ll notice how beautifully it sits against the backdrop of the whipped topping and how perfectly the colors pop and sparkle.

When Should You Serve it?

This is a drink that doesn’t need any special occasion although it would make a beautiful addition to a unicorn-themed birthday party!

Since it’s so simple to put together, it is ideal to serve anytime you want to give the kids a special little treat! You can even warm it up for a nice winter drink or add a hot chocolate packet, although this may distort your color a bit!
