Cinnamon Roll Dippers with Homemade Caramel Sauce
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit obsessed with dipping food items. I don’t know what it is really…I love to dip things in ketchup, in ranch dressing, anything really…and my latest obsession is taking these homemade cinnamon roll bites and dipping them as well.
In my house, I always have to be on my game, too. I have two other guys who like just eat just as much as I do (if not more!) so when I make something as delicious as these cinnamon bites, I’ve learned to always grab myself a quick handful before I set the plate out for everyone to enjoy.
Call me crazy but I think it’s just smart! I want to enjoy bite after bite of these awesome Cinnamon Dippers as well!

What happens if my butter is softened enough to spread on my pastry dough?
Don’t let this happen! This is the worst. I’ve made this mistake a time or two and I vow never to let it happen again. In fact, it’s actually something that is constantly on my radar.
If your butter isn’t soft enough and you try to spread it on your pastry dough, you’re doing to tear a giant hole in the dough right away. It’s just that simple.
How do you know if your butter is soft enough to spread?
I have a simple test that lets me know if my butter is soft enough to spread. Basically, I take my thumb and press down into the middle of the butter. If it sinks and leaves a thumbprint, I know it’s softened enough to use.
But if I have to use any force at all, the butter still needs more time.

What else could you dip these cinnamon bites into?
If you don’t want to make the homemade caramel sauce, you don’t have to. You can easily whip these up and dip them in anything that you want.
Other great options are:
- Syrup
- Maple Syrup
- Cinnamon and Sugar
- Butter
- Sprinkles
- Hot Fudge
- Whipped Cream
Honestly, whatever your tastebuds are craving, is totally fine. (and I’m getting hungry just thinking about all the options!)
(And just me to you – these cinnamon dippers are actually really great plain, too! If you’re not crazy about anything overly sweet for breakfast, just brew yourself a nice cup of coffee and enjoy them without a dipping sauce. They have enough sugar inside the pastry that it’s the perfect sweet touch without going overboard.

How to make Cinnamon Roll Dippers
First, you need to peel the label off of the can of sweetened condensed milk. Once you have that done you need to put into a pot and cover it with water. Then, you’re going to boil it for 2 1⁄2 – 3 hours. Make certain that you let it cool before opening. (This is your homemade caramel sauce.)

Next, you’re going to blend the flour and salt. Once done, cut in the butter until crumbly.

As soon as you’re finished with that, add enough water until pastry dough sticks together, but make certain it isn’t too wet.

Then, dump out the dough and roll it to approximately 1/4”.
Once done, spread with softened butter.

After that, you’re going to sprinkle with cinnamon/nutmeg mixture and sugar.
